Third Annual Brain Education Day

January 3, 2011, New York, New York – To celebrate the third annual IBREA Brain Education Day–proclaimed by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on January 8th, 2009–The International Brain Education Association (IBREA) and BrainWorld Magazine will sponsor a one-day seminar on January 7, 2011 to promote worldwide education goals, otherwise known as the six Education For All (EFA) goals, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

The six goals include expanding early childhood care and education, providing free and compulsory education for all, promoting learning and life skills for young people and adults, increasing adult literacy by 50%, achieving gender parity and gender equality, and improving the quality of education.

Presenters at the conference include:

-Ms. Elizabeth Fordham, Education Programme Advisor at the UNESCO office in New York, on the EFA goals

-Dr. Elkhonon Golberg, author of The New Excecutive Brain and clinical professor of NYU School of Medicine, on Brain-based education and cognitive testing formulated with IBREA and used in a number of countries around the world

-Dr. Dan Pavel, professor of clinical radiology, University of Illinois, on Brain Education and learning disorders by Brain SPECT imaging

-Mr. Modest Mero, minister plenipotentiary, Permanent Mission of the United Republic of Tanzania to the United Nations, on the need for brain-based education and policy in African countries

-Jeseok Yi, internationally acclaimed conceptual artist and President of JESKI Social Campaign, on the importance of visual communication in implementing global brain-based education

-Amy Klein, Editor in Chief of BrainWorld Magazine, on the role of media in promoting UN goals around the world
